Activities are a vital part of each day at Fountain Springs. We believe that our days can be improved immeasurably by the company of good friends, sharing of new ideas, learning new things, and spending time doing the things we enjoy.

There is always something happening at Fountain Springs Health Care! The activities we offer are based on our residents' current interests with the addition of new things for them to try and enjoy. Our calendar is developed monthly with input from our residents and their families.

We strive to offer activities that enhance the total wellness of our residents; including the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and social aspects of wellness. We offer activities such as morning stretches, kickball and other fun ways to keep the body in motion, along with a variety of educational programs including current events, creative activities and trivia games. There are many opportunities to reminisce about past experiences and make new friends during our social gatherings. We offer daily worship opportunities and small bible studies are held weekly. We have game nights, entertainment, van rides to area sites, and there are numerous special events held throughout the year. Family members and other guests are always welcome to join us during all of our events.

Activity Calendar

Dining with Your Loved One

Family members and friends are invited to dine with our resident at any time for a cost of $2.50 per guest meal. We simply ask that you let the dietary department know in advance so accommodations can be made. Feel free to drop in any time to share some soft-serve ice cream at Frank's Dairy Bar in the Old Home Town section at the front of the facility.

The dining rooms at Fountain Springs Health Care feature buffet style dining. A menu is provided at each place setting during meal times to encourage independence at every meal. There is always someone available for assistance if you have questions, or need assistance reading and marking the menu.

Parties & Celebrations with Residents

If you would like to reserve a space for a private party in our Family Dining Room, Activity Room, or Ice Cream Parlor please contact Holly at (605) 343-3555 or by E-mail.

Helium filled balloons are available in the activity office to help celebrate birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. Contact any of the activity department staff for details.

Staying in Touch via Web-Cam and Email

There is a computer in the activity room equipped with a web cam for live chat designated for resident and family use.

You can send an email to your loved one here. Please be sure to include the resident's name and room number in the subject line of you message. Staff will read emails to your loved one and also help send their replies along with photos and video messages!

Kids

Kids are welcome to visit and may enjoy spending some time playing in the School House or walking through the flowered courtyard or "Side Yard" to feed and pet the assorted critters who live in the little Red Barn.

Special visits from the children at the near-by Fountains Springs Children's Center create a little magic when the generations are brought together.
